So for those of you familiar with yelp, particularly those who are business owners and have a listing on there, I think you’ll really enjoy the following Portlandia clip which is an absolute favorite of mine. It is a totally hilarious, overdramatized yet somewhat relatable depiction of what it feels like to get a negative review (although just to be clear, we have all stellar reviews on yelp from both wedding photography, baby photographer, and family photography clients
)

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013chicago baby & family photographers | happy birthday sofia!
Thursday, July 12th, 2012I can’t believe Sofia is already turning 1..
Her mama of course put together the most amazing 1st birthday party – simple, intimate, and such yummy, healthy food (even the sweets, everything was all organic!).
In addition to the wonderful food, there was a children’s singer who sang along to her guitar playing and had maracas for the kids, and everything rubber ducky as that was Sofia’s party theme (and one of her favorite toys!). I had so much fun and had a blast catching up with Sofia and her parents, as well as some of their friends (you’ll recognize Piper who I just visited not long ago).
Anyway here are but a few of my favorites from my time celebrating with everyone. I had such a great time and I’m already counting down the days until I get to meet up with Sofia and her mama again soon for a play date at the beach
Happy birthday Sofia!! XO
one year ago….

and now…

above: The Lavendar mint iced tea was SO yummy! And in fact, Sofia’s mama was kind enough to share her recipe (which can also be found on her Success is Vitality healthy living and wellness page. Click HERE to check it out, she shares delicious, health conscious recipes all the time and they never disappoint!)
Recipe:
Brew Moroccan mint tea (just mint), food grade Lavender flowers & stems, and the peal of an organic lemon for 15min, then add filtered water and ice to make it a refreshing yet harmonizing summer drink!

above: Baby Piper, fast asleep and adorable as always

chicago film family photographers | harbor springs on film.
Saturday, January 28th, 2012Remember my trip to Harbor Springs? Well I also brought my film camera along and toyed around with a few rolls of expired fujifilm I had. Thought I’d post this since I’m starting to experiment with more of the same at my family sessions as well (including one that I have tomorrow!). Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend so far! XO

chicago photographers | a perfect event.
Thursday, December 8th, 2011Thank you so much to Debi Lilly from A Perfect Event for inviting me out to capture her holiday tea party at TipsyCake here in Chicago. The beautiful snowflake details on the table and the devine print designs on the flower center pieces were just a few of the things done by Debi. I don’t know about you but this gives me some serious inspiration for a wedding or better yet, baby shower for around the holidays! Also a big thank you to Naomi Levine from TipsyCake for the beyond amazing cupcakes, I know where I’ll be satisfying my sweet tooth from now on

chicago family vacation photojournalism | christening in harbor springs.
Sunday, October 30th, 2011If you follow our blog then you probably already recognize this awesome family whose birth story I captured earlier this year. I had so much fun working with this bunch, you can imagine my delight when they asked if I’d be free to come document Sloane’s christening in Harbor Springs, Michigan. After discussing their goals for the event, we decided to make a whole weekend out of it and capture the full story from start to end. We started out on day 1 with a beautiful cocktail cruise around the lake on The Pointer, a small but sturdy boat whose history goes way back with the town of Harbor Springs. Then, we all got together again on day 2 for the actual christening, which took place on the beachy shores of Lake Michigan at Sloane’s grandparents’ house (did you know that Sloanie will be the fifth generation of her family to be going to Harbor Springs for their summer tradition?!). They finished up with a nice family dinner on the porch and finally, on day three we hung out for a bit in the morning.. they showed me around town one last time and we took their water-loving-bursting-with-energy-loveable-silly-lab pups to the beach before I headed back home. Sadly Vasili got sick right before the weekend and had to forgo the trip, but I actually found it quite fun and almost my own little adventure to make the 5 hour trek up to the northern part of Michigan and explore the town by myself (I’ll be sure to share some of my own personal photos I took around town on another day).
Anyway, here’s but a few of my fave moments from the weekend. Thank you so much Sloane, as well as her dearest family and friends for inviting me out to capture such a special weekend of yours. Thank you even more for your great hospitality and kindness, and for introducing me to the world’s most amazing cookies *drool* (again, will save those stories for another time!) xoxo
