Meet baby Archie – all 6 lbs and 8 oz of him! Vasili and I consider ourselves incredibly lucky to work with such amazing people, and this family was no exception. We walked into little Archie’s nursery and immediately we felt this wave of positive energy come over us – we were greeted with smiles and espresso; the room was filled with beautiful, vibrant colors; the sun was peeking in through the shades just enough to remind us that it’s still there (something that the long winter makes me often forget…); there was Bob Marley lullaby tunes playing softly in our ears; and low-and-behold, I look in the corner only to find a serene little buddha guarding over the room. I think it’s safe to say that everything about the day couldn’t have been any more perfect. Congratulations to this Bump Club family and also thank you for making us feel so at home

This past month has been quite the whirlwind of unexpected hurdles and hardships for Vasili and I to say the least, which is why I’ve been a little absent from my usual blogging repertoire. To refresh and ease our souls, we took a much needed vacay in the Bahamas (pictures to come soon of course!) and now that I’m home I felt I should celebrate my return with a blog post to share but a fraction of what I’ve been up to in the mean time (yes, one of the lovely ‘perks’ to owning your own business is that things must go on even when you’re not feeling your best). We’ve watched babies be born into this world; worked alongside a good friend from Milwaukee at one of her newborn sessions; we’ve watched the snow fall as new love blossomed; congratulated friends on their business ventures and success; we’ve met families on the verge of growing; and revisited our favorite tiny babes who are not so tiny anymore I’ve always said I’m a junkie for happy moments so thank you to my wonderful friends, family and clients for constantly reminding me of how beautiful this life really is.

Vasili and I photographed this teeny Chicago Bump Club cutie whose home birth I documented just last week! Who knew that such a tiny boy could have such a big smile (and the most fantastic name ever!)

Speaking of pregnancy, the founder of Bump Club also happened to be an expecting mama herself and last week I had the pleasure of photographing her beautiful baby girl at just 7 days old! I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better session – although it took a while to get her to fall fast asleep, once we did she was an absolute dream. Even her big brother, Cooper snuck into one of her pictures LOL! Thank you so much baby J for not peeing, pooping, puking or crying even once while we were hanging out (though even if you had I would still love you to pieces all the same!) and I can’t wait to come back and watch you grow over the next year )

… and then last but not least, a little ‘outtake’ I captured of my mom holding baby J nice and snug as I was preparing for my next set-up during the session. As you can tell, we like to make sure that our subjects are happy and comfy while we are working!
