Vasili and I photographed this couple’s wedding at the Hilton Orrington in Evanston not too long ago.  All can I say is, beautiful day, amazing people and wonderful love.  The day was filled with laughter and so many familiar faces as Denise grew up with some of my favorite mamas and past clients.

I’ll let you see for yourself what I mean in a slideshow below of some of the highlights of the day :) (operative word being some) Unfortunately you iPad users may not be able to see the set as there are just way too images for your poor little smart device to load, so I highly recommend hopping on your computer and checking them out.  And again, so many images that you may  need to just give it a second to load but I promise it’s worth the wait ;)

Love you all so much and thank you again and again Denise & Josh for allowing us the honor, blessing and privilege of capturing every moment of your special day to remember forever XO

chicago wedding photographers | I carry your heart.

After totally hitting it off with these two at our first meet up and again during our engagement session, I was so excited to photograph Ashleigh & Christopher’s wedding!   It was a beautiful ceremony held at a church in the NW suburbs, and then the reception followed at the White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills.   A couple of things that stuck out in my mind from that day: (1) Ashleigh surprised Chris with a secret engraving on the inside of his ring that said, “I carry your heart” which reminds me of one of my favorite E. E. Cummings poems (2) I normally am not one for formal portraits but the night before the wedding, I first met Chris’s parents who were so kind to say that they loved our work and were hoping if we could just take one nice portrait of the two of them together at the wedding as they hadn’t had one taken for such a long time (I believe they said almost 10 years!).  Even after talking with them for just a short amount of time, I could already sense that they were such sweet and fun people.. I honestly wished I had an hour or two to do a whole session with them :)

Anyway, here are but a few favorites from their wedding.  Thank you so much Ashleigh & Chris for inviting us to capture such an important day in your lives, we are so happy for you both and to now have you as friends! xoxo

“I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
my heart) I am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
                                i fear
No fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)”

Vasili and I had the BEST time ever photographing this wedding at the Sofitel Hotel in Chicago (whose staff worked so incredibly hard to ensure the day went smoothly and everyone had everything they needed, including us).   When I last saw Tamara & Brian at their engagement session, they told me that while there were going to be many traditions incorporated into their big day, they wanted it all to really be about the amazing friends and family in their lives.  And that it was!  In terms of the details throughout the day, I was particularly in love with the floral arrangements and bouquets put together by Nadine Horwitz of Fragrant Design as well as the oh so delicious cupcakes made by Sweet Mandy B’s (mmm sweet mandy b’s is my absolute FAVORITE!)

Thank you so much B&T for allowing us the honor, blessing and privilege of capturing the story of your wedding. Mazel tov!

Ceremony/Reception venue: Sofitel Hotel Chicago

Florist: Nadine Horwitz, Fragrant Design

Things have been so crazy busy around the office here lately, it seems like forever since my last post! (at least in comparison to my usual daily blogging lol)  I thought what better way to break up the weekend monotony of sitting at my desk working than to share some photos from my time with this couple shooting a mini e-session over at Loyola University – Chicago the other week.   We spent a beautiful afternoon walking around campus and along the lake to help them celebrate their new engagement and reminisce on old memories from where they first met.  This is the second time I’ve re-connected with old college friends from my days of molecular biology and studying for the MCAT and it always makes me laugh to think that I could actually be on my way to becoming a doctor right now had I stuck with that path, as Alpa & Kav are just finishing up taking their medical school board exams.

Thank you so much Alpa & Kav for inviting me out to one of my favorite places to capture your love :) And a big congratulations to you on both your engagement and also finally finishing up your exams!  :)

This past weekend Vasili and I photographed our first Jewish wedding with this awesome couple at the Sofitel Hotel Chicago.  Everything was amazing, from the flowers to the hora (which I think is now officially my favorite wedding tradition!), and we couldn’t have had a better time.  Thank you so much Tamara & Brian for allowing us to share in your day and your memories, we are so happy for you both! Mazel tov!
